REGINA ROSSA di Victoria Aveyard
Parecchie volte ho visto la copertina di questo romanzo tra i post del blog di Sophie (uno dei miei preferiti) e, incuriosita dalla trama, ho deciso di prenderlo su IBS. Ho finito per comprare anche gli altri 2 libri perchè, nonostante io non riesca a trovare un feeling con la protagonista, il plot è avvincente e la voglia di scoprire come andrà a finire la storia è tanta.
Il libro narra le vicende di Mare Barrow, una giovane dal sangue rosso che, come tutti i rossi, è povera e costretta ai lavori più umili al servizio degli Argentei, valorosi guerrieri dal sangue argenteo con poteri soprannaturali. Ma la ragazza scopre di avere un potere straordinario che nessun Argenteo ha e questo la trasforma in una temibile minaccia per l'intero sistema sociale...non vi dico di più, ma se amate il genere distopico, dovete assolutamente leggerlo!
DIARIO DI UN VIAGGIO A PIEDI di Edward Lear
Se siete alla ricerca di una lettura veloce ma intensa, allora, questo diario di viaggio nella Calabria di metà ottocento fa per voi! Il viaggiatore è Edward Lear, un inglese che decise di visitare a piedi la provincia di Reggio Calabria assieme al suo amico Proby. Ne verrà fuori un viaggio straordinario tra paesaggi mozzafiato e luoghi pittoreschi, personaggi comici e caratteri umani che gli entreranno nel cuore. Un racconto vivace e mai noioso tra le bellezze della mia terra nell'antichità.
TWO LEGGINGS di Peter Nabokov
Se, come me, amate la storia e la cultura di civiltà a noi lontane nel tempo e nello spazio, allora questo racconto in prima persona sulla vita straordinaria di uno degli ultimi guerrieri pellerossa del Nord America, questo libro vi conquisterà!
Two Leggings racconta la sua vita nell'America di fine '800, la costante e instancabile ricerca spirituale, i digiuni, le pratiche religiose, il potere e le continue lotte con le tribù rivali per il territorio, i bisonti e i cavalli. Quello che mi ha più colpito di questo libro - che non dà spazio allo stereotipato rapporto delle tribù pellerossa con l'uomo bianco - è la diversità (nonchè superiorità, a parer mio) mentale, spirituale e culturale di queste popolazioni che, sebbene conquistate, sfruttate, denigrate e annientate, non hanno mai perso la loro dignità.
LA FIGLIA DELLA LUNA di Margaret Mahy
"Quattordici anni, genitori separati, un fratellino a cui badare: Laura sembra una ragazza come tante, eppure ha qualcosa di speciale, un sesto senso che le permette di "sentire" l'avvicinarsi di un pericolo o di un avvenimento insolito. Questo potere le sarà di grande aiuto quando suo fratello Jacko rischierà la vita per colpa di una strana malattia, provocata da qualcosa (o da qualcuno?) che non è di questa terra. Ed è per salvare Jacko che Laura sarà costretta a sviluppare e affinare le proprie capacità con l'aiuto di nuovi e potenti amici." Un racconto avvincente e sensuale, che si sviluppa tra problemi adolescenziali e pratiche wicca: l'ho adorato!
PETRADEMONE di Manlio Castagna
Sebbene IBS indichi come età di lettura "dai 10 anni", questo libro non è affatto un libro per bambini! Mi ha conquistata con il suo alone di mistero e la sua realtà parallela quasi quanto i libri della Rowling..Ben scritto e per nulla banale, racconta le vicende di Frida, che "ha appena perso genitori in un incidente del quale si sente responsabile e viene mandata a Petrademone, la tenuta degli zii, scenario di misteriosi avvenimenti: gli amati border collie di famiglia sono spariti e tutte le notti una strana nebbia avvolge i prati circostanti la casa, portando l'eco di voci inquietanti. Insieme a tre amici, la ragazza scoprirà l'esistenza di un mondo parallelo e malvagio e di essere la "prescelta" per una missione dalla quale dipenderà il destino dell'umanità intera". Perfetto per le notti prima di Halloween!

Because reading a book in fall is never like reading it in spring or summer when it lacks the sound of rain, the cold air of October evenings or the warmth of blankets on the knees. There is a different pleasure reading a book in fall! And today I want to share with you my 5 favorite readings of the last period, hoping they can be an inspiration and help to spend a beautiful and relaxing autumn afternoon.
RED QUEEN by Victoria Aveyard
Several times I saw the cover of this novel between the posts of Sophie's blog (one of my favorites) and, intrigued by the plot, I decided to buy it on IBS. I ended up buying the other 2 books because, although I can not find a feeling with the protagonist, the plot is compelling and the desire to find out how it will end the story is so great.
The book tells the story of Mare Barrow, a young red-blooded woman who, like all the reds, is poor and forced to work in the service of Silvers, valiant silver-blooded warriors with supernatural powers. But the girl discovers she has an extraordinary power that no Silver has and this transforms her into a dangerous threat to the whole social system ... I will not tell you more, but if you love the dystopian genre, you must absolutely read it!
DIARY OF A PEDESTRIAN TOUR by Edward Lear
If you are looking for a quick but intense reading, then, this mid-nineteenth century travelogue in Calabria is for you! THE DAUGHTER OF THE MOON by Margaret Mahy

PETRADEMONE by Manlio Castagna
Although IBS points out as a "10-year-old" reading age, this book is by no means a children's book! It conquered me with its halo of mystery and its parallel reality almost as much as the books by Rowling ..Well written and by no means trivial, tells the story of Frida, who "has just lost parents in an accident of which he feels responsible and she is sent to Petrademone, the uncles' estate, a scene of mysterious events: the beloved family dogs have disappeared and every night a strange fog envelops the meadows surrounding the house, bringing the echo of disturbing voices. Together with three friends the girl will discover the existence of a parallel and evil world and to be the "chosen one" for a mission on which the destiny of all humanity will depend ". Perfect for nights before Halloween!

RispondiEliminasinceramente ultimamente leggo pochissimo (e me ne vergogno), ho due libri sul comodino ma non sono ancora riusciti ad iniziarli. Tra questi titoli, mi ha già colpito dal titolo "la figlia della luna", secondo me è interessante.
