A CHILDHOOD MEMORY of mine

L’altro giorno mi è capitata per le mani una foto di me e mia sorella da piccole: eravamo in campagna, lungo un piccolo torrente, io in pantaloncini e maglietta a maniche corte, lei con uno scialle annodato in vita. Appena ho visto l’espressione sulla faccia di mia sorella sono scoppiata a ridere. Così. Dopo tantissimi anni. Ancora quell’espressione era così viva che mi ha riportato in mente, come fosse stato ieri, quel preciso istante in cui è stata scattata.

Era estate ed eravamo andate al fiume con i miei genitori, le mie zie e mia nonna per una scampagnata felice, tutti insieme.

E così è stato: era bellissimo per me e mia sorella esplorare ogni angolo di quel posto, inventavamo storie e creavamo castelli in cui abitare, giocavamo con le ranocchie e i girini che saltellavano ai bordi del ruscello, rincorrevamo le farfalle e, come tutti i bambini, sfidavamo un po’ le raccomandazioni di mamma e papà, finchè mia sorella non è caduta in acqua, inzuppando completamente i vestiti. Poco male, visto che era estate, ma lei ci è rimasta malissimo quando mia mamma le ha annodato in vita quello scialle. Da qui l’espressione contrariata, delusa e inevitabilmente buffa che si è dipinta sul suo viso e che è rimasta impressa sulla carta fotografica per sempre. 

Quanti ricordi ed emozioni dentro una foto! E pensare che oggi non c’è neanche bisogno di sfogliare un album fotografico..o meglio, per sfogliarlo basta un semplice gesto della mano sullo schermo dei nostri smartphone, che racchiudono dentro di se svariati giga di giornate felici, occasioni importanti, incontri speciali, emozioni, sentimenti, gioie.. per molti il cellulare è diventato come una biblioteca personale, dentro cui ripescare di tanto in tanto il proprio ricordo felice, la testimonianza di quel giorno speciale per riviverlo, se non appurare che è successo davvero e non solo per sogno!

The other day I found a picture of me and my sister as a child: we were in the countryside, along a little river, me wearing shorts and a t-shirt, my sister with a shawl tied at the waist. As soon as I saw the expression on my sister's face I burst out laughing. So. After many years. Still, that expression was so alive that it reminded me, as it had been yesterday, that precise moment in which it was taken.

It was summer and we went to the river with my parents, my aunts and my grandmother for a happy picnic, all together.

It was wonderful for me and my sister to explore every corner of that place, we invented stories and created castles in which to live, we played with the frogs and tadpoles that jumped at the edge of the stream, chasing butterflies and, like all children, we challenged a bit the recommendations of mum and dad, until my sister did fell into the water, drenched her clothes completely. Not bad, since it was summer, but she remained very bad when my mother knotted the shawl on her waist, hence the expression, disappointed and inevitably funny that has been painted on her face and that has remained etched on paper photo forever.

How many memories and emotions in a picture! And thinking that today you do not even need to browse a photo album .. or better, to browse through a simple gesture of the hand on the screen of our smartphones, which contain within itself several bytes of happy days, important occasions, special meetings, emotions, feelings, joys ... for many, the phone has become like a personal library, in which to occasionally retrieve your happy memory, the testimony of that special day to relive it, if not to ascertain that it really happened and not only for dream!
